How to Modify Orders

Managing orders on MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5) allows traders to control trades in real time, manage risk effectively, and improve execution flexibility and accuracy.
1. Modifying Open Positions

- In the “Trade” window at the bottom, right-click the Open Position you wish to modify
- Select “Modify or Delete Order” from the context menu
- In the Order window, set Type to “Modify Order”

- Modify the following parameters:
- Stop Loss (SL): Automatically closes the position if the price moves against you to limit losses
- Take Profit (TP): Automatically closes the position when a profit target is reached
- Click “Modify” to confirm the changes
2. Modifying Pending Orders

- In the “Trade” window at the bottom, right-click the Pending Order you wish to modify
- Select “Modify or Delete Order” from the context menu
- In the Order window, set Type to “Modify Order”

- Modify the following parameters:
- Pending Order Price: Set the execution price for the order
- Stop Loss (SL): Set the automatic closing price to control potential loss
- Take Profit (TP): Set the automatic closing price to lock in profit
- Expiration Date: Set the validity period for the pending order
- Click “Modify” to submit the changes
Tips
- Modifying orders allows dynamic risk and profit management; always check market conditions before modifying
- Pending order prices, SL, and TP must comply with the instrument’s quotation precision
